Paula Deen Loses 30 Pounds – Really?

Celebrity chef Paula Deen recently told us she’s lost 30 pounds by “making small changes to her diet.” Her apparent motivation was to control her Type II diabetes. I am not a Paula Deen fan – she has earned tons of money advocating eating high calorie, home-made junk food. And now we find her in the news again, more or less bragging about her weight loss. While I applaud anyone who sees the need to take responsibility for personal health, I can’t help but think that her ultimate motivation is to draw more attention to herself for purely commercial purpose – after all, we learn “after her diabetes diagnosis, the southern chef finally changed her lifestyle and her pants size. Her secrets will surprise you!” Really?
